Our Bakery in Harrisburg PA
Ciao! Bakery opened its doors in March 2006 to quiet streets and an intimate customer base. They swiftly expanded with the addition of European-style artisan breads and pastries and an artisan design cake following. Weekly customers became daily customers who have since grown to become friends.
Ciao strives to present the finest products to the finest clients they know — their own. Stop in and enjoy the sweetness of Ciao! Bakery.
Cassandra Callahan, Pastry Chef
Casey, originally from Scranton, PA, graduated from the Restaurant School of Philadelphia in 1999. She baked and plated her way around the city at local restaurants and hotels, honing her skills and developing her own personal style of baking, before settling in Harrisburg with now-husband, Brian, in 2001. Being the first Pastry Chef at the Hilton Harrisburg, Casey began developing menus and training the bakers that would, in a few years, be the starting lineup of Ciao! Bakery. She found her home in 2006 with the opening of Ciao! Bakery, where she puts her personal touch into every dessert that leaves the shop, the plated desserts in Bricco, or the various wholesale customers she serves.
Erin Grissinger, Assistant Pastry Chef
A Harrisburg native, Erin Grissinger started her career with an externship from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. After four short months and a 2004 graduation, she stayed on as a full time employee in order to work alongside Casey and expand her knowledge in the operations and functions of bakeries. The experience came in handy when offered an elevated position as Casey's assistant in 2006, and the opportunity to help open a bakery from the ground up. Since the opening of Ciao! Bakery, Erin has found her niche in the form of cake décor — specialty, customary and wedding cakes — bringing awards home to Ciao! Bakery from various competitions in the area.
