Our Humble Beginnings

Ciao! Bakery opened its doors in March 2006 to quiet streets and an intimate customer base. They swiftly expanded with the addition of European-style artisan breads and pastries and an artisan design cake following.

Today, Ciao! has established a reputation as one of the best bakeries in or near Harrisburg. Our freshly baked artisan breads with deep brown crusts and light, airy interiors are perfect for accompanying meals to standalone treats. Our muffins, scones, filled croissants, cinnamon buns and pastries offer a sweet something extra with a morning — or afternoon — cup of espresso. When it comes to wedding and specialty cakes, no other bakery can match the expert preparation, fresh taste and beautiful design of Ciao!. Also available at Ciao! Bakery is a butcher shop with the freshest meats and cheeses in Central PA for deli sandwiches and more. Our specialty sandwiches are served on Ciao! Bakery’s freshly-baked-daily artisan breads. We even cater, so we can even create custom made deli trays, soups and more for your next event or corporate meeting.

Cassandra Callahan, Pastry Chef

Cassandra Callahan, Ciao! Bakery’s original pastry chef, prides herself on using only the finest and freshest locally sourced ingredients. Under Cassandra’s direction, Ciao! Bakery’s European-style artisan breads, famously delicious small and large bites, pastries and out-of-this-world wedding and specialty cakes make us the Harrisburg bakery customers count on most.

Casey, originally from Scranton, PA, graduated from the Restaurant School of Philadelphia in 1999. She baked and plated her way around the city at local restaurants and hotels, honing her skills and developing her own personal style of baking, before settling in Harrisburg with now-husband, Brian, in 2001.

As the first Pastry Chef at the Hilton Harrisburg, Casey began developing menus and training the bakers that would, in a few years, be the starting lineup of Ciao! Bakery. She found her home in 2006 with the opening of Ciao! Bakery, where she puts her personal touch into every dessert that leaves the shop, the plated desserts in Bricco, or the various wholesale customers she serves.
