Bricco-Ciao! Catering: The New Force in Lunchtime catering

HARRISBURG – Bricco, one of the Harrisburg area’s most popular restaurants, is joining forces with Catering from Ciao! Bakery to create a new, enhanced lunchtime catering service starting Monday, August 31.

Bricco-Ciao! Catering will operate out of Ciao! Bakery, just around the corner from Bricco, at 304 Chestnut Street, Harrisburg. Bricco, meanwhile, will no longer be serving lunch in the restaurant.

“These days, more people are pressed for time, more people are choosing to eat lunch at their desks, and fewer people are able to spend a full hour, enjoying a leisurely lunch,” said Bill Collier, Bricco’s executive chef and general manager. “We are simply recognizing the shifting habits of the downtown business community and maximizing our service by bringing a higher level of quality and service to lunches and meetings at the workplace.”

The Bricco-Ciao! Catering menu will feature a blend of Ciao! Bakery’s most popular sandwiches, as well as legendary offerings from Bricco’s nearly 10 years as one of Harrisburg’s premier lunch destinations for the business, political and tourism communities. Included on the Bricco-Ciao! Catering menu are Bricco’s signature salads, its sage pappardelle, with braised duck and pancetta, and its Kennett Square mushroom pizza with caramelized onions, as well as other popular dishes.

Lunch at Ciao! Bakery remains unchanged. Customers may still stop in and order lunch, or call ahead at 724-0236 and place orders prior to pick-up.

Orders for Bricco-Ciao! Catering are for groups of 10 or more and must be placed prior to 4 p.m. on the previous business day by calling either 724-0236 or 724-0222.

There will be no reduction in Bricco’s staff or in staff member hours. Bricco’s dinner hours remain unchanged: Monday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Happy Hour is 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Whether it’s an informal lunch for the office staff, or a formal mid-afternoon conference or meeting, Bricco-Ciao! Catering can create a catered lunch to suit group needs. Among the offerings are buffet-style spreads and build-your-own sandwich boards. Bricco-Caio! Catering will also offer pasta salads, garden salads, a soup of the day, and a selection of cheese, fruit and antipasti.

Bricco serves Tuscan and Mediterranean-inspired dishes in a warm and attentive atmosphere. Chef Collier is committed to choosing only the freshest local ingredients when creating the menu, which changes seasonally to reflect the finest of Pennsylvania agriculture.

Clearly, that recipe works, as the restaurant has been awarded a berth in the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame, which recognizes hospitality businesses that have won a Certificate of Excellence five years in a row. In addition, it has been the recipient of multiple Wine Spectator Awards and Open Table Diner’s Choice Awards.

Bricco is a collaboration between the Olewine School of Culinary Arts and Greenwood Hospitality. Founded with funding from the Benjamin Olewine III family, Bricco’s kitchens feature the brightest up-and-coming culinary stars who are passionate about creating the freshest, most innovative dishes with expert care.

In addition to outstanding sandwiches, Ciao! Bakery offers European-style artisan breads and pastries and an artisan design cakes. It is considered to be one of the best bakeries in the Harrisburg area.
