Impress your guests with these seasonal holiday cocktails— just remember to enjoy them responsibly!
Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot
If your holiday plans take you outside, you might be looking for something to keep you warm and in good spirits. Walking through the neighborhood to look at lights or trekking through a farm to cut down a Christmas tree are definitely more enjoyable with a hot drink in hand!
We love the unexpected vanilla flavor in this Hot Toddy recipe. And we’re constantly looking for ways to up our boozy hot chocolate and spiked coffee game. Our current favorites? This sinfully delicious Bacon, Bourbon and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate recipe and this twist on Bailey’s in coffee with hazelnut and cocoa mix.
We love champagne this time of year — okay, we love it all year long! But it just seems like the most festive way to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year, especially with the addition of a few dancing cranberries.
But straight champagne isn’t for everyone, so we dug up a few recipes where it gets a little help from some friends.
The cranberry and champagne combination is kicked up a notch with the addition of Grand Marnier, orange curls and a sugar rim in this recipe. This Champagne Punch packs a real punch with the addition of brandy and Cointreau, but we love the fruity flavor! And speaking of fruit, this spin on the classic mimosa recipe from Martha Stewart makes it acceptable to drink orange juice all day long.
While visions of margaritas usually include sunshine, sand and temperatures a tad warmer than we’re currently experiencing in the Midstate, a winter margarita can be just as lovely. These Holiday Spiced Cranberry Margaritas, for example, will add the perfect festive touch to your Christmas party with its bright red and green hues.
Another holiday flavor that’s sure to please is pomegranate, and the juice is front and center in this fruity margarita recipe. If you’re planning to serve a group, this White Christmas Margarita Punch is the perfect make-ahead cocktail!
Need for ‘Nog
Eggnog is one of the most polarizing drinks of the holiday season. People either love it or hate it, so you’re not going to please everyone with this holiday staple. At the very least, make sure you go for gold in your preparation! Our favorite eggnog recipe comes from Alton Brown. Or, if you’re looking for a twist on the classic, check out Jamie Oliver’s recipe for chocolate eggnog.
