The Most Unique Reason Some People Love Italian Food

By Bricco Posted on November 27th, 2019

Of course, Italian food is delicious, but it may not be the favorite date food just for taste. Napolina, the famous makers of Italian ranges, recently conducted a poll of about 2,000 adults. They found that almost three out of four adults in the 23-35 age range ranked Italian food as their favorite. Diners over 55 ranked Italian food as their favorite only 42% of the time.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Of those in the 23-35 age range, 63% liked the food because of the taste, but about 10% said they chose Italian because of its beauty. Turns out, younger diners are choosing Italian food because it looks stunning on social media.

The most popular dishes, in order, chosen by younger diners because of their appearance included:

  • Pizza
  • Bruschetta
  • Lasagne
  • Spaghetti bolognese
  • Caprese salad
  • Spaghetti carbonara
  • Calzone
  • Prawn linguine
  • Tagliatelle
  • Pesto pasta

Not surprisingly, the study found younger diners eat Italian food more than twice a week, which is more than older diners. They also post pictures of their Italian food three times a month. Younger diners are more likely to turn to social media for food inspiration when cooking and deciding where to go for a meal as well.

Beautiful Food

Whether you love social media and want to take photos of your food or just find you enjoy food more when it’s presented beautifully, there’s almost certainly a link between presentation and eating experience. Chefs learn about presentation because they know how food is presented is part of the dining experience. Beautifully arranged food pleases the eye before it pleases the taste buds.

At Bricco, we understand the importance of beauty. It’s why we have created a stunning restaurant and an elegant atmosphere with hardwood tables, tiled floors and art. We have an open kitchen so you can see our chefs preparing your dishes. Our private dining room features a wine wall, marble buffet and paintings.

Bricco is a collaboration between the Harrisburg Hotel Corporation, managing general partner of The Hilton Harrisburg and the Olewine School of Culinary Arts at Harrisburg Area Community College. New chefs in our kitchens learn how to master delicious and stunning dishes, guided by experienced chefs who are leaders in the industry.

Photogenic Food

If you want to take photos of your food, try these tips:

  • Take photos fast so you can enjoy your meal while it’s hot.
  • Be discreet so you don’t disturb other diners.
  • Only take photos of your food, being careful not to invade the privacy of nearby diners by taking photos of them.
  • Do not use your flash, so the glare does not disturb others.
  • Take a food photography class and try a few pictures at home so you can master your craft before you try taking photos in a restaurant.
  • Have your filters ready so you can get the look you want fast.
  • Have a photo editor at home so you can add the right touches without spending hours delaying your meal.
